10 Jahre Akademie der Künste der Welt, das wollen wir mit Euch feiern – in Anwesenheit der Akademiemitglieder, mit Gästen aus Politik und Kultur sowie mit einem glamourösen aber schlafgestörten Konzert und anschließender Aftershow Party!

Ihr 10-jährigen Bestehen begeht die Akademie der Künste der Welt mit einem Jubiläumsprogramm am Wochenende 21 – 23 10 2022. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Performance A Worn-Out Concert. Sleep Disorder des Künstler*innenkollektivs CHEAP.

Schon immer hat CHEAP Innovationen aus der Geschichte der Avantgarde und der queeren Subkulturen genutzt, um eine Vielzahl von raffinierten Performance-Events zu produzieren, die Theorie und Vergnügen, Politik und Frivolität, Ästhetik und Geselligkeit miteinander verbinden. In Zusammenarbeit mit der Drag-Künstlerin Vaginal Davis werden Fragen zu Geschlecht, Sexualität und Race oft auf nicht-didaktische Weise und mit viel Humor behandelt. Die performativen Aspekte von Gender – seine Struktur als Imitation ohne Original und als stilisierte Wiederholung von Handlungen, die stets ein Ideal anstreben und doch daran scheitern – sind in Anlehnung an Judith Butler integraler Bestandteil von CHEAPs Ästhetik der Selbstdarstellung.

Teil des CHEAP Kollektivs sind das Akademiemitglied Marc Siegel und die Schauspielerin Susanne Sachsse. Anlässlich des 10-jährigen Jubiläums der ADKDW kuratieren sie in Kollaboration mit den Musiker*innen der Band Xiu Xiu ein Worn-Out Concert oder „ausgeleierte Konzert“ und widmen sich den Themen Körper, Produktion, Arbeitsteilung und globale Vernetzung. Angelegt als „durational Experience“ entsteht eine multidisziplinäre Präsentation, die Performance, Filme, Vorträge, Theater, Tanz, Trinken, Diskussionen und Live-Filmaufnahmen umfasst.

10 years Academy of the Arts of the World, we want to celebrate with you – in the presence of the academy members, with guests from politics and culture as well as with a glamorous but sleep-disturbed concert including an aftershow party!

The Academy of the Arts of the World (Akademie der Künste der Welt, ADKDW) celebrates its 10th year of existence with an anniversary program on the weekend of 21 – 23 10 2022, centered around the performance A Worn-Out Concert. Sleep Disorder by the artist collective CHEAP.

CHEAP has always used innovations from the history of the avant-garde and queer subcultures to produce a variety of sophisticated performance events that combine theory and pleasure, politics and frivolity, aesthetics and conviviality. In collaboration with the drag artist Vaginal Davis, issues of gender, sexuality, and race are often addressed in non-didactic ways and with great humor. Following Judith Butler, the performative aspects of gender – its structure as imitation without original and as stylized repetition of actions that always strive for an ideal and yet fail at it – are integral to CHEAP’s aesthetics of self-representation.

Part of the CHEAP collective are academy member Marc Siegel and actress Susanne Sachsse. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the ADKDW, they are curating a Worn-Out Concert in collaboration with the musicians of the band Xiu Xiu, addressing the themes of the body, production, division of labor and global networking. Conceived as a „durational experience“, a multidisciplinary presentation is created that includes performance, films, lectures, theater, dance, drinking, discussions and live film recordings.
